1. Confucius Institute Scholarship for MTCSOL

(Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages)

About the Scholarship:

With the support of Confucius Institute Headquarters, Scholarship for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL, 2-year program) is designedly provided to all the excellent applicants, aiming at the localized cultivation of Chinese language teacher on a global scale. This is a full scholarship and the scholarship winner shall begin the study in autumn. Students with the scholarship for MTCSOL shall be subject to an annual appraisal organized by the host institutes in the second semester after being enrolled according to the “Annual Appraisal Procedures for Confucius Institute Scholarship”. Only the eligible students are entitled to continue to receive the Scholarships in the following year.


Special Requirements for Applicants:

The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), outstanding performers on HSK exams, winners of the "Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students, Chinese language teachers, and outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world.

Applicants should pass the new HSK (level 5) with a score of at least 180.

Applicants shall apply for the full scholarship between the period of March 1and April 20, 2013.


How to Apply:

1. Apply for the Official Recommendation letter from Confucius Institutes (independently set-up Confucius Classrooms), Overseas Chinese test centers, and Educational and Cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates) around you.

2. Register and Login http://cis.chinese.cn for Application Online. Note: HUST institution code is 10487.

3. Submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form and the required documents.

Necessary documents (in duplicate):

Documents issued in the third language should be notarized in Chinese or English edition

2. Photocopy of the passport;

3. Application Statement, including your Chinese educational background and detailed study plan, 200 words or above, written in Chinese or in English and signed;

4. HSK certificate;

5. Diploma and transcript that issued and stamped by your institution;

6. Two Recommendation Letters from your professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or in English.

7. Official Recommendation letter from Confucius Institutes (independently set-up Confucius Classrooms), Overseas Chinese test centers, and Educational and Cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates)


2. Confucius Institute Scholarship for Advanced Studies

About the Scholarship:

In order to encourage more international students to study Chinese language and culture, while being supported by Chinese Government and approved by Confucius Institute Headquarters, our university would provide One-Academic Year or One-Academic Semester full scholarships to the excellent students for Chinese Language, Literature, History, and Philosophy.

The One-Academic Year scholarship winner shall begin the study in Autumn. And the One-Academic Semester scholarship winner could begin the study in Autumn or Spring.


Special Requirements for Applicants:

The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), outstanding performers on HSK, winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, Chinese language teachers worldwide, and outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world, or those who intend to become Chinese teachers. The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy.

Applicants for the One-Academic Year scholarship should complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 120 hours, or achieve a score of at least 180 on the new HSK (level 3).

Applicants for the One-Academic Semester scholarship should complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 60 hours, or achieve a score of at least 120 on the new HSK level
